GRACIA

About Gracia

Gracia Baur, a 24 years old talented German singer. Gracia started her ‘career’ in the 4th grade of school by founding her own band. She got her first vocal lessons when she was 14. Her singing teacher Victoria helps her up to now.

In the year 2000 Gracia took part in"Popstars", an international television talent show, but she got dismissed because she has forgotten the words of a song. After finishing the 12th grade of the grammar school she left her parents’ house to start an education as a management assistant in event organisation in the summer of 2002.

In the same year Gracia took part in "Deutschland sucht den Superstar", the German version of “Pop Idol”, and eventually reached 5.

Gracia moved to Cologne and on 14th July, 2003 she spawned her 1st single "I Don't Think So", that reached a Top3 placement on the German single charts. On 22nd September, 2003 the follow-up single "I Believe In Miracles" charted at number 15.

Pushed by the publicity she released her first album “Intoxicated” on 13th October, 2003 which peaked at 10 on the German album charts with more than 50.000 copies sold. Unfortunately this was not enough for the record label BMG so Gracia has been dropped.

Eight months later, Gracia teamed up with fellow DSDS runners-up Daniel Küblböck, Nektarios Bamiatzis and Stephanie Brauckmeyer, releasing the charity single "Don't Close Your Eyes" under the name 4 United.

In January 2005 Gracia released her new solo single "Run & Hide", produced and composed by David Brandes. The song reached 20 on the German charts. After winning the German national pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with 52,8% it was revealed that Brandes had bought thousands of his own.

However, "Run & Hide", a modern Pop-Rock song with heavy use of synthesizers, failed to catch the audience's imagination in the Eurovision Song Contest and ignominiously placed last (24th), with just four points awarded from Monaco and Moldova.

But Gracia was not deterred. In October 2005 she released the new single "When The Last Tears Been Dried" and went on with her second solo album “Passion”, released in November 2005. The second single “Never Been” reached rank 39 on the German single chart.

In December 2006 Gracia released the Song "Cos I believe" together with Marvin Broadie under the name "Xantoo". Chartentry: 39!
