SHANADOO

Bio

Before Shanadoo:

Previously, Manami, Chika and Junko were involved in Vivace whom released a cover of "On My Own" Sooner covered by Hinoi Team also. Vivaces music was released in Germany and Japan however did not gain much popularity. It was not until the 3 girls signed up with German Producer 'David Brandes' who also produced Vanilla Ninja and Lemon Ice. Brandes also with the 3 girls (Chika, Junko and Manami) gave a contract to 17 years old Marina Genda. This group was named Shanadoo. 4 Girls from Japan releasing music sung in Japanese to a German Public? How would this turn out...

2006:

Shanadoo's first release - "King Kong" - was fairly popular but did not reach large enough audiences. The group would continue to release another dance track with the same melody of that of the same artist as "King Kong" and was named 'My Samurai'. Also, popularity started to fall. Very few people actually knew about Shanadoo, so everything was not going so well for the girls. However, it was in November when Shanadoo tried one more time for a hit of 'Guilty Of Love' and gained a small, but effective - success. Their slow song would touch listeners and would feel part of the vibe. With this success, Shanadoo were able to release their Debut Album - "Welcome to Tokyo". This album did so well, Shanadoo's producers decided to give Japan a try. Although it did not do as well as had planned, The girls from Shanadoo were extremely happy about being able to release music back at home. The Album was released in 2 Version in Germany, but it would not be until 2007 when the public would receive "Welcome to Tokyo - Limited Edition".

2007:

2007 would spark large success. Now with the early release of 'Hypnotized', Shanadoo were sailing smoothly. With common Radio hearings and Television Viewings of this new release, the Limited Edition of "Welcome To Tokyo" was released on High Demand. However, for a few months, Shanadoo became very quiet and was extremely secretive until early July, news was released that Shanadoo would finally be able to gain even more popularity by performing on live Television on RTL 2, performing on the music show "Ballermann Hits 2007" and performing their Never before heard song "Fly Me To Shanghai". This reached thousands of viewers and was good news for fans and the girls. Also, Later in July, it was released that Shanadoo would release 2 new singles and another album by the end of the year. The first of the 2 singles was finally leaked and has now been confirmed to be called 'Japanese Boy' which is a cover of Aneka's one hit wonder across the globe. The names or other details of the second album and second single are yet to be determined, but it should not be long.

Influences

Majority of the songs are based off the original released tracks of E-Rotic, however, the lyric has been changed from English to Japanese. However, the songs titles have mostly been changed as well as the words. The music released by Shanadoo are commonly about Love and are very Japanese influenced, for example, take into consider the titles "It's Like An Anime", "My Samurai", "Ninja Tattoo" and "Japanese Boy". Their film clips are also commonly involving Japanese Influences. Their music has a Dance/Trance feel to them with the japanese instruments playing in the background!

Sounds Like

U.D.O.

Sometimes words are just totally insufficient to describe the importance of an artist. There are few like Udo Dirkschneider, truly a Metal icon, and the head of his great band U.D.O. since 1987. In fact, by playing together in the same line-up for years, this band is better than ever today. And now with absolutely no sign of wear at all, U.D.O. strike back with an example of just how Heavy Metal should sound in 2007, "Mastercutor”. Yes, of course, it's traditional, you'd expect little else, but it's also a very fresh and powerful record, which follows the tradition of U.D.O. / Accept, but with a few surprises to match! A song like "Vendetta” could easily have been on Accept’s "Metal Heart” and will enthuse fans both old and new. The first single "The Wrong Side Of Midnight” combines thunderous Heavy Metal with fine oriental vocal parts; yet it doesn't end there! "Master Of Disaster” and "Dead Man's Eyes” both possess the energy of Thrash Metal without lacking melody. Whilst "One Lone Voice” is a total opposite, a very catchy theme and a beautiful chorus line balanced delicately between power and expression. Then there's the title track - all a Heavy Metal song needs, soon to be hailed a classic!

We're back to 1981: the third Accept album "Breaker” marks the international break-through for a young band centred around a singer from Wuppertal, Germany Udo Dirkschneider, whose success is hard fought and yet deserved and which rightfully continues with the classics, "Restless And Wild“(1982), "Balls To The Wall“(which secures them a Gold Record in the USA in 1983) and "Metal Heart“(1985). With triumphant world tours and a rapidly growing fan base, Accept become the epitome of German Metal. Only to disintegrate after "Russian Roulette” (1986) when things move into a different direction: Udo leaves to form his new band U.D.O. and to continue on the path of traditional Metal while Accept change into a more commercial project with a new singer. U.D.O. goes on to release strong albums such as "Animal House“ (1987), "Mean Machine", "Faceless World" and "Timebomb", enjoying a steadily rising acceptance from fans and critics alike. Accept would re-unite of course, but four years later, Dirkschneider returns with U.D.O., starting his comeback with "Solid“ in 1997, followed by "No Limits“, „Holy“, the eagerly awaited live album „Live In Russia“ (2001) and "Man And Machine". Soon after signing to AFM Records, the home of many that had so enjoyed his early success (Doro, etc) U.D.O. then releases „Nailed To Metal“ (available as live CD and DVD), "Thunderball" and arguably his finest album in that ten years, "Mission No. X". The gauntlet is thrown down once again. Dirkschneider intends to stay true to Heavy Metal and no one is going to stop him!

Versatility is important to any band but U.D.O. never lose sight of the final goal ruthlessly pursuing excellence here with a fervour that does them credit. "Mastercutor” was produced by Stefan Kaufmann who also mastered - and it opens a new chapter in the history of the man and the band. The man with the unmistakable voice can not only rely on his worldwide fan base of true metalheads to carry the day once again, but, just like his fans can be sure to get a great album that combines the use of today's technological advances without abandoning his own indomitable style, he can be sure that they will be there to back him to the hilt once again. After 5 million sales around the world, the cry’s sure to go up again!

“The grandmaster of Heavy Metal is back!”

DJ RAD

Rad’s Drobny’s story begun on February 3rd 1981 In Torun Poland. Rad’s musical roots can be traced back to his early childhood. In 1986 his family moved to Germany. This was a move that would shape Rad into the incredible talent that he is today. “Germany really opened a lot of doors for me in terms of music influences. At the time, 80s commercial Dance was all over the radio and television, so you couldn’t ignore it. I remember sitting there with headphones on blasting music, while all the other kids would play outside… From then on, I was hooked “ Rad’s biggest influence was to come in the late 80s. At the tender age of only 7 years old, Rad still recalls how he was moved by the musical genius of Jean Michelle Jarre’s live performances. “The way he used the synthesizers to create his own sounds was amazing to me”. I knew that electronic music would one day be my true calling”. Rad was determined to realize his dreams of creating his very own brand of electronic music, so determined in fact, that he taught himself how to play the piano. At 17, he was ready to take it all to the next level. After saving up enough money, he bought his first instrument, a Roland Mc 303. Fast forward to 1999. Rad received his first “big break” with an official release on BMG Music Canada as DJ Rad with his remix production of Danilla "Rescue Me". Since then, DJ Rad quickly became a household name amongst internet fans from across the globe. With a string of highly successful remixes and productions under his belt, such as Joee "A Question of Time" and Radikal DJ’s "If Tomorrow Never Comes", DJ Rad seemed virtually unstoppable! Rad teamed up with the beautiful and already successful, popular Canadian artist Zoe. They released their first single together “Come Home”. This was to be the start of a very successful and lucrative collaboration between the two. "Come Home" was an “out of the box”, instant smash hit! It quickly climbed the charts in Asia, managing to not only stay on the charts for a mind-blowing 14 weeks, but also capture the coveted 1 position for two consecutive weeks in a row! Not bad for a young, self taught, musician.

In 2004, Rad released his debut album, cleverly titled DJ Rad "The Best Hits Collection" on EQ Music, Singapore. The album featured most of the singles that had been receiving a considerable amount of airplay on radio in Asia and North America. In 2005, Rad created his own company Northern Light Records. Rad has enjoyed continued success with the re-release of "Come Home (2K6)" to coincide with his very first music video, which he actually stars in as well. Now in 2007, with the help of US label ISV Entertainment and Hit Trax Records, Rad is armed and ready to show the world what he is truly made of. With an arsenal of brand new tracks and exciting projects up his sleeve, Rad sets out to prove once and for all that DJ Rad is here to stay! Be sure to check out his brand new single and video DJ Rad feat Zoe "Sweet Serenity" from the forthcoming album "Second Look". In stores soon. Rad Drobny (DJ Rad) currently resides in Canada, also home base for Northern Light Records.

WITHIN TEMPTATION

Within Temptation have come a long way in the last ten years. From their humble beginnings, the Dutch band have now sold over 1.5 million CDs and DVDs world-wide, making them not only Holland’s biggest selling musical export but also one of the fastest growing new Rock acts internationally.

Formed in 1996 around the nucleus of guitarist Robert Westerholt and vocalist Sharon den Adel, Within Temptation released their debut album Enter through Dutch indie label DSFA the following April. The album saw the band playing gigs across the continent, firmly cementing their phenomenal live reputation – most notably two appearances at the legendary Dynamo festival (in both 1997 and then on the main stage in 1998).

Unbelievably for a band who were attracting such critical and commercial acclaim, they were actually all still in college. And so in 1999, Within Temptation went on hiatus to allow the band to finish their studies.

Returning to the fray twelve months later, 2000 was to prove a pivotal year for the band. Building on their strong live following by playing all the major European festivals, the band released their second album "Mother Earth" in December. The new album again garnered critical acclaim - hugely influential Dutch music magazine Aloha tipped Within Temptation "for a major breakthrough" – and "Mother Earth" stayed in the Dutch charts for over three months.

Starting the year with a major club tour of their homeland, Within Temptation released two singles from "Mother Earth", "Our Farewell" and "Ice Queen". It was "Ice Queen" that finally led to Within Temptation’s first mainstream commercial success. The single peaked at #2 in the Dutch charts with the album re-entering the charts at #3, eventually reaching Platinum status.

The band’s popularity in Holland continued to grow and in 2002 it spread like wildfire across the continent. "Mother Earth" clocked-up Platinum and Gold status in Germany and Belgium respectively, while the "Mother Earth Tour" DVD received Gold status in their homeland and won the band an "Edison Award".

Returning to the studio in 2004, Within Temptation were set to record their third and most successful record to date, "The Silent Force", with producer Daniel Gibson. Fuelled by the massive international radio hit "Stand My Ground", the album went to #1 in the Netherlands and Finland, #5 in Germany, Top 10 in Belgium, Portugal and Spain, Top 20 in Austria and Switzerland and Top 30 in Greece, France, Turkey, Sweden and Norway. A myriad of Gold and Platinum certifications followed.

The single Angels was released in June 2005 to coincide with their now annual festival run - which included appearances at Pinkpop, Werchter, Rock Am Ring, Sweden Rock, Ruisrock, Aerodrome and Gurtenfest – and European tours with Iron Maiden and Rammstein. In August, Within Temptation received a World Music Award for Best Selling Dutch Artist In The World. A release of "The Silent Force" in Japan, Australia, and the UK was next.

More plaudits followed in 2006 with Within Temptation receiving the Dutch Export Award ("Best International Selling Artist") for the third consecutive time in a row, the Dutch BV Pop Award and a Golden God Award from the UK’s Metal Hammer magazine for Best Video. The band played on the biggest festivals in Europe and played in Japan for the first time.

The band started a corporation with game developer Spellborn. The Chronicles of Spellborn is a so called "Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing’ game", with millions of players worldwide. The band wrote three songs for the game, and made the video "The Howling" together, which was released exclusively through the internet. At the end of 2006 the band signed with Roadrunner Records in the US, making a simultaneous worldwide release possible.

And now the new album "The Heart of Everything" is there. In describing "The Heart Of Everything" Robert Westerholt comments, "Although you can still clearly hear that this is a Within Temptation record, many things have changed and evolved. Sharon shows how versatile she is as a singer more than on any record we've done. On some songs, she sings with a lot of power; on other songs she is more melodic… a siren enchanting her subjects. Sometimes she is emotional and sensitive. The guitars also play a larger part, and we have added an extra dimension to our new songs too by enhancing them with historic samples, as we did on Our Solemn Hour. Compared to "The Silent Force", our new album is more dynamic and energetic. It has a more natural sound."

In February 2007 the single "What Have You Done", featuring guest vocals from "Life Of Agony" front man Keith Caputo, was released. The release of the single came alongside the news that the band had won the Dutch Export Award (“Best International Selling Artist”) for the fourth time in a row.

Their new album was again produced by Daniel Gibson and mixed by Stefan Glaumann (Rammstein) and entered the Dutch album charts at #1. The album reached a #2 position in Belgium and Finland, a top-5 position in Japan, Sweden, Portugal and Germany, a top-10 position in Switzerland, a top-15 position in Austria and Czech Republic and in the top-30 in Spain, Norway and France. By this, the album reached a #5 position in the European album charts. In March and April the band did a large European tour of 38 shows, which was completely sold out. They supported Lacuna Coil on their US tour in May, which was very successful.

In June the second single "Frozen" was released. Through the video which came with the single, the band focused on drawing the attention to abuse within a family. This is why the band decided to support Child Helpline International by donating all the income they receive from Sony/BMG to this organization. Child Helpline International (CHI) is a global network of child helplines and works in 150 countries around the world.

Early July, "What Have You Done" was released in the United States, making it the band’s first official release in the USA. "The Heart of Everything" came out on July 24th and has been a big success so far. During the summer, the band will be doing all the major European festivals, such as Download, Bilbao BBK Live, Novarock, Pinkpop and Rockperry.

Later this year, a US headlining tour will follow (September), followed by shows in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France (October) and ending the year with big shows in The Netherlands and the UK (November).

LUCIANO PAVAROTTI

In Memoriam

Luciano Pavarotti 1935 - 2007

Luciano Pavarotti (born October 12, 1935) is an Italian tenor who is one of the best known vocal performers in contemporary times, in the world of opera and across multiple musical genres. He was born in Modena (Emilia-Romagna), in northern Italy.

1960 - 1970
Pavarotti made his opera debut on April 29, 1961 in the role of Rodolfo in La bohème, in Reggio Emilia.

He made his American debut in February 1965 with the Greater Miami Opera alongside Joan Sutherland on the stage of the Miami-Dade County Auditorium in Miami. The tenor scheduled to perform that night was ill and had no understudy. Sutherland recommended the young Pavarotti, who was travelling with her on her tour, since he was well acquainted with the role. Shortly after that, on April 28, he made a debut at La Scala in La Bohème. After an extended Australian tour he returned to La Scala where he added Tebaldo from I Capuleti e i Montecchi to his repertoire on March 26, 1966, with Giacomo Aragall as Romeo. His first Tonio took place at Covent Garden on June 2 of that year.

1980 - 1990
At the beginning of the 1980s he set up The Pavarotti International Voice Competition for young singers, performing with the winners in 1982 in excerpts of La bohème and L'elisir d'amore. The second competition in 1986 staged excerpts of La bohème and Un ballo in maschera. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of his career he brought the winners of the competition to Italy for gala performances of La bohème in Modena and Genoa and then to China where they staged performances of La bohème in Beijing. To conclude the visit, Pavarotti performed the first ever concert in the Great Hall of the People before 10,000 people, receiving a standing ovation for nine effortless high Cs. The third competition in 1989 again staged performances of L'elisir d'amore and Un ballo In maschera. The winners of the fifth competition accompanied Pavarotti in performances in Philadelphia in 1997.

2000
In 2002 Pavarotti split with his manager of 36 years Herbert Breslin. The breakup, which was acrimonious, was followed in 2004 with the publication of a book by Breslin entitled The King & I, seen by many as sensationalist and largely critical of the singer's acting (in opera), his ability to read music and learn parts, and of his personal conduct, although acknowledging their mutual success. In an interview in 2005 with Jeremy Paxman on the BBC, Pavarotti rejected the allegation that he could not read music, although acknowledging he sometimes had difficulty following orchestral parts.

Trivia/pop culture references
* Pavarotti is a fan of Turin-based football club Juventus. As part of the South Bank Show documentary on Pavarotti, he can be seen watching the 2003 UEFA Champions League Final between AC Milan and Juventus with friends. He talks about his love of Juventus, and is visibly upset when Milan wins on penalties.
* In the television programme Mad About You, Pavarotti sang to the Buchman family in their own living room.
* In the claymation television series Rex the Runt, one of the characters, Vince, suffered from "Random Pavarotti Syndrome" which would cause him to suddenly burst out in operatic singing at inopportune times.

GORAN RATKOVIĆ RALE

Goran Ratković Rale, srpski glazbeni mag, otkrio je svom prijatelju i kolegi Mirku Barbiru, jednom od najboljih poznavatelja glazbene scene na području Europe i Balkana, kako nastaje megahit

Pjevanje: Narodnjački glas…
Aranžmani: …i moderan zvuk…

S.E.X. APPEAL

Music and production by Lyane Leigh, TGP Hegemann
Lyrics by John O'Flynn
Produced by 3H Music

To avoid a long standing lawsuit about the label E-Rotic Lyane established S.E.X. Appeal. After Raz-Ma-Taz, Gino Gillian (aged 31) from Singapore became her partner. He had been successful in the whole of Asia as a first class singer and entertainer e.g. in the mega shows of Julio Iglesias, Viktor Lazlo and even in one of Frank Sinatra!

BLUE SYSTEM

Following the dissolution of his successful Dance-Pop duo Modern Talking, composer and producer Dieter Bohlen turned his attention to a new solo project which he dubbed Blue System; also assuming vocal chores, he debuted in 1987 with the single "Sorry Little Sarah", soon followedby the full-length "Walking On A Rainbow.

While early Blue System efforts like 1989's "Body Heat", 1990's "Obsession", 1991's "Seeds Of Heaven" and 1992's "Deja Vu" were all produced with the aid of longtime collaborator Luis Rodriguez, beginning with 1994's "X-Ten" Bohlen took total creative control, heralding a shift away from the Eurodisco of past records to move into Techno and House. "Forever Blue" followed a year later, but after 1996's "Body To Body" Bohlen officially reunited with former partner Thomas Anders to reform Modern Talking, with the duo issuing "Back For Good" two years later.
